Nickel silver-mounted French violin bow by Pierre Maline, branded RENE BAILLY, c.1910, 58g. With a certificate from the Cabinet 'Archetiers Experts

Pierre Maline (1883-1939) trained with his father and in 1906 went to work for Cuniot-Hury and later Féret-Marcotte.
He lived and worked in Mirecourt all his life. He was not a prolific bow maker, and this bow from the earlier part of his career is a nice example of his work
Materials:
Stick: pernambuco (Paubrasilia echinata)
Mounts: nickel silver, ebony (Diospyros spp)
Pearl: pink/green abalone (Haliotis spp)
Thumb band: kangaroo leather (Macropus giganteus)
Lapping: silver
Face: cow bone (Bos indicus)

The bow comes with a certificate from the Cabinet d'Archetiers Experts
