Gold-mounted German violin bow by August Hermann Mönnig, 59g

Little is known about August Hermann Mönnig. He  worked in Markneukirchen and flourished between 1875-1927. His bows are well regarded

This bow is in good condition with original parts. It is stamped A. HERM. MÖNNIG

Materials:

 

Stick: pernambuco (Paubrasilia echinata)

Mounts: gold (unassayed) and ebony (Diospyros spp)

Pearl: pink/green abalone (Haliotis spp)

Thumb band: kangaroo leather (Macropus giganteus)

Lapping: whalebone (Balaena spp)

Face: bone (Bos indicus)
