This silver-mounted French cello bow was made by Victor Fétique but stamped P. JOMBAR À PARIS. It has been repaired at the head and weighs 79g

Victor François Fétique (1872-1933) was one of the greatest makers of the classical French tradition. He trained with C. Husson, S. F. Maline and C. N. Bazin, then worked for Caressa and Français with fellow bow maker C Thomassin. He worked independently from 1913. He was awarded the title 'Greatest Archetier in France' at the Paris Exhibition of 1927. This bow is influenced by the styles of Sartory and Lamy

Thumb band: kangaroo leather (Macropus giganteus)

Lapping: silver

Face: bone (Bos indicus)
