This silver-mounted violin bow is in good condition. It is bears the mark of Edgar Bishop on the face, and is stamped W. E. H. & S. on the handle, 59g

Edgar Bishop (1904-43) was one of the most talented bow makers in the workshops of W. E. Hill & Sons. He was William C. Retford's favourite pupil but his life was cut tragically short and his bows remain highly sought after

Pearl: white mother or pearl (Pinctada maxima)

Thumb band: kangaroo leather (Macropus giganteus)
