Silver-mounted violin bow by Stephen Thomson, 62g

A bow should feel like a natural extension of the arm. Stephen's bows are made to suit different players and styles of playing and are influenced by some of the most respected makers in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This example is inspired by the work of James Tubbs

Materials:

 

Stick: pernambuco (Paubrasilia echinata)

Mounts: silver, ebony (Diospyros crassiflora)

Pearl: white mother of pearl (Pinctada maxima)

Thumb band: kangaroo leather (Macropus giganteus)

Lapping: silver

Face: silver
